ARTIST PHILOSOPHY

Born in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Since Mumbai being the capital of Art and Culture, from childhood participated in stage shows and extra curricular programs. After completing SSC, achieved a diploma in Fine Arts from Sir J.J .School of Applied Arts, Mumbai. Married in an Indore based family, having artistic background. The influence and inspiration of father-in-law Late Shri G.N. Vaidya had been encouraging. He was a senior renowned artist and writer who won recognition within the Art field and beyond. Under his guidance, started my own craft and painting hobby classes. Resp. Tikekar Sir initiated and motivated me to start work on figurative paintings. Consequently, actively participated in group shows and competitions, and achieved recognition in the field of Arts.

As an artist got the opportunity to work as a Governing Body Member in Shri Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, Bhopal. This experience has increased my horizons in terms of exposure to rural art through conducting Tribal and Folk Art Camps at major cities in India. Thoroughly enjoyed educating and guiding the participants of the camp. Learned immensely from these camps and the exposure gained has changed my perspective towards Art, it has further refined and broadened my artistic skills. This valuable experience has been engraved in my memory and can be observed in my artworks. In those days, got the opportunity to meet and discuss with Resp. Miss Yamuna Shankar of Shankar’s International. It is a devoted organization working for the children and achieved world-class recognition in organizing and executing art competitions and exhibitions. Meticulously arranged Children’s World Level Competition at Indore and managed painting exhibitions locally. Children got the opportunity to learn about various cultures across the world by observing the paintings. The experience was enriching, the participants were left inspired and some of them also won awards. The association with Deaf and Dumb School has been one of my key contributions towards’ the society. Offering these handicap and less able citizens, the right guidance gives me immense pleasure and personal satisfaction. My guidance has encouraged them to increase their confidence in art and craft, to keep patience and maintain sincerity during work, and to motivate and prepare them for Art and Craft Competitions. My teachings have proved to be inspiring and the Children have learned to strive for excellence in quality of work without any expectation. Also, worked with the Human Rights Commission, Madhya Pradesh, as a managing committee member. The organization works for social peace and strives to resolve issues with apt solutions, where in my resolute and experience in bridging the communication gap between both the parties and providing prompt solutions can be profoundly observed. Presently, working as a trustee of Narayan Mandpam Sarvajanik Nyas, Indore. The trust is devoted towards development of Art, encouraging and harnessing new talent to the field of Art. Under my guidance, various young artists have evolved and further honed their artistic skills. My artistic expertise has boasted them with confidence to choose Art for a career and provided them knowledge as to how to go about achieving it in commercial terms. However, woman artists have not taken active participation as of now in the field of Arts, due to their own social limitations. Art for women is mostly restricted as a hobby. Although the future appears to be bright for women as more and more people are beginning to value women’s contribution in the society. Likewise, a gradual increase in popularity of Art and its aesthetic value is going to lead to a budding new generation of educated and talented artists, with more women making their way to the Arts arena and showcasing their creative potential. With this thought in mind, my present collection is focusing on woman’s emancipation and the role of Indian women in the society. My paintings are a true reflection of my experience of Artistic knowledge and culture. My art is vibrant, full of intricacies and depth and confident that the same will be realized by the viewers.
